A few little things about the giant A380... / 2 ou 3 petites choses sur le géant A380...

Messier-Dowty was selected in 2001 to design, manufacture, test and support the nose landing gear for the ultra-large Airbus A380 aircraft.

The A380 nose landing gear design activities take place in Velizy, France and production activities in Bidos, France and in Montreal, Canada. Testing takes place in Gloucester, UK, Toronto, Canada and at the CEAT (Centre d’Essais Aéronautiques) in Toulouse, France.

The nose gear development benefits from Messier-Dowty’s extensive experience on all existing Airbus aircraft and particularly the A340-600. The design is capable of adaptation to meet the requirements of future growth variants. The forward-retracting NLG design introduces new technologies, namely the introduction of 350-bar hydraulic pressure never before used on large commercial aircraft, as well as the use of an HVOF (High Velocity Oxygen Fuel) surface treatment process, which is more environmentally friendly.
